Atherton Tablelands, Queensland, Australia

At The School for Field Studies' Center for Rainforest Studies (SFS-CRS) some of the students and staff (including me!) focused research efforts on rainforest restoration and recovery. In particular, we followed riparian restoration plantings and cyclone damage and recovery in forest fragments.

Tiputini Biodiversity Station, Yasuni, Ecuador

A dizzying view down the (old) canopy tower at Tiputini Biodiversity Station where I had the privilege to spend two months of my life; a month as a student on Boston University's Tropical Ecology Program, and a month as a Teaching Fellow for the program. Camping out overnight on the canopy tower made for epic adventures and memories.

Stockholm, Sweden

The view from a Residential Community in Stockholm through wavy old glass, taken during an international educator's workshop at DIS- Study Abroad in Scandinavia.

Maasai Mara, Kenya

After a week of meetings at MSID (Minnesota Studies in International Development) in Kenya, I took a weekend safari to the Maasai Mara and this manyatta (Maasai home camp). Students on the MSID program study in Nairobi and then have internship or research placements at NGOs in the surrounding rural areas or the city...and have the opportunity to go on safari during orientation and during their free time.

Cuernavaca, Morelos, Mexico

A view of downtown Cuernavaca, near the zocalo (central plaza). I worked with the University of Minnesota's Mexico program, which offers intensive, immersive courses in Spanish in this scenic, vibrant, and friendly city.

Minneapolis, MN

We weren't Minnesotans for life, but our lives will never be the same for having lived there ;)

Oxford, England

A view of the college library of Lady Margaret Hall, University of Oxford. MIT students often study abroad as visiting students for a semester or year at Oxford. LMH is a supportive, inclusive, and beautiful setting for study at Oxford.

London, England

Inside a modern building at Imperial College London in the grand neighborhood of South Kensington (see reflection on the wall!). MIT and Imperial partner in an academic exchange spanning summer, year, and semester programs and many departments on both sides of the pond.

Madrid, Spain

Getting inside a multi-media lab in the main library at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M). UC3M is a direct-enrollment program option for MIT students who live in homestays in central Madrid and commute to the Leganes or Getafe campuses for class.
